Open letter to Speech Instructors, or, Speech instructors ought to give students practice time.

I said something about having nearly no beef with your class, but, I wished that you had actually had some practicals in class--that is, practice... The reason this is a concern for me is most likely easily known for yourself. You saw the wonderful time I had on my first speech.

This would certainly increase your ethos as a professor who takes the edge of nervosity off of important assignments. How many speeches (even important ones!) throughout time have been messed up because the speeker was unconfident or not confident enough and stressed?

There's also the issue of out of class practice time. You know, I have another best friend that I could easily imagine being a fried fish in college. She is aged 66 years, has two grandsons, an office assistant job, and would be smoked if she had to deal with college homework. Then there are the unique individuals who have other issues. What about them?

My strongest reason has to do with all your students, and your type of course: This is a life skills class, and you want all your students to be successful in it's area. If you want them to succeed, why not make them study and form their own views from the book? If you were to even, say, ask them to post speech exersize vids to youtube, this may help greatly.

Thank you for paying attention to what I had to say. I think, that by working with the applicable students, Speech classes would be made much more comfortable and much less traumatic for students. Also, the compassionate, caring Speech Professors would be that much more happy and satisfied.

About Me

My photo
Live Long and Prosper! I am an eccentric. I like Jewish/Hebrew music, focusing on whatever special interests I have, especially if it concerns my friends. Quintessentially, I love my gifts from God. I dislike it when people dislike the lives of their own children, and torture them in the name of training and treatment. My dreams for the future are to become a Professor, writer, wife and mum. May the Force be with you!
